This hotel is very convenient to I 75 and is the same distance to Miami and Ft. Lauderdale airports. I have had family fly into one airport, stay at the Grand Palms and then fly out of Ft. Lauderdale. It is set back from the hussle and bussle of Pines Blvd. You actually enter the same way as residents do to enter the community. The hotel is on the right before the guard gate. It has a plush tropical setting and is relaxed for a golf resort. The grounds are kept in impeccable condition. With your nights stay there is free use of the gym. This is a full sized private gym located across the street but still in Grand Palms. There are also pools on the property. They have a real breakfast included in the price. You get waiter service, real eggs and breakfast meats and a relaxed atmosphere in a restaurant setting. The coffee is good and they keep coming back for a warmer. After reading this you may wonder why the last star is missing. Well, the rooms are clean but old. At one time this used to be a Holiday Inn back when only cows lived out West on Pines Blvd.

I took my girlfriend on her first vacation and picked this place based on the listing here. The pics of the room is not what you will walk into. Amenities listed microwave and fridge and my room had neither. The wall unit in which the tv is located had a thick layer of dust and what looked like wet tissue that's been there a while. If you book room 245 it might still be there. There was pubic hair on the floor next to the bathtub. There was a dead roach under the sink. Privacy was an issue as my curtain didn't reach!!! I went to get ice and can clearly see my girlfriend laying in bed from outside the room. The only thing that kept me from making a big deal about this was that I didn't want to be negative on my girlfriend's first vacation. This was an absolute waste of money. Beware..

We held a function today in this hotel. To start, it's an older building. Dated and an awkward ballroom with the kitchen entrances in the back of the room providing noise and commotion throughout the entire meeting. Staff is extremely nice and helpful and the event ran smoothly. The reason for the 1 star and writing this review is to share an experience I had with the pompous owner I ran into in the lobby. (Yes, it was the owner, I confirmed it by another employee.) My colleagues and I we sitting on the couches in the lobby preparing for our event. We had shifted one of the couches back a foot or two to get closer to a wall outlet to power a phone we were using to communicate with other employees. The owner approaches us, interrupts our discussion and says, verbatim "You don't go into someone else's house and move their furniture" then proceeds to make me stand up and move the couch back to its original position before he would leave... EXCUSE ME? We just spent a couple THOUSAND dollars to rent your run down ballroom. You got it sir! I WON'T be coming to your "house "anymore! People like this don't deserve to own a business. Take this for what it is, but I would NEVER recommend someone spending any of their hard earned money to this joker.

Checked into this hotel and was in the room for about 15 minutes before I checked out. The bed is soooo uncomfortable. It's like sleeping on top of an old rock. My poor back still hasn't forgiven me for that. The room looks like everything has been kept the same for over 20+ years. My grandma would've loved that place, if she were still alive..... Everything was dingy and old. Even the bed sheets looked old. Checked-in for a relaxing weekend away from home and was planning a spa day. Their spa wasn't even open at 12pm on a weekday? Checked back out rather quickly.
